​Shannee is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 16 years of experience in the human services field and has worked with children and families through several non-profit agencies during that time. Shannee has been trained in Cornell University’s TCI (therapeutic crisis intervention) and CARE (children and residential experiences) models for crisis management and attachment wounds in children and adolescents. She has also been trained and certified in the Circle of Security (COS) and Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) models that help parents navigate parenting difficulties in ways that help to improve relational satisfaction in the parent/child relationship. Shannee enjoys working with military families and has had training in military psychology with one of the pioneers of military psychological research and care. Shannee has a passion for working with groups, couples and families, and has spent much of her career helping individuals navigate emotional/behavioral crises such as suicidal ideation, intense relational conflict, and the traumatic effects of abuse and neglect. Shannee places great emphasis on all levels of systemic interactions from intrapersonal to societal, helping folks to balance the effects of multiple systems on their internal mental and emotional state. Shannee’s major theoretical influences are from post-modern family therapists, mainly Narrative and Feminist family therapies. These approaches place a premium on allowing clients to be in the driver’s seat of their healing experience, and increase their sense of empowerment in dealing with life’s many struggles. Shannee has special interests in working with marginalized groups including, but not limited to LGBTQ+ folks (individuals, couples and families) and people of color.
